The Alterations Process

The Alterations Process

How does it work?

Ideally we begin alterations 8-12 weeks before your wedding, but recommend getting those appointments booked in well in advance to ensure you can get suitable appointment dates.

We find most people require 3 fittings to get the perfect fit. We do things in stages as one alteration may affect another and these things should not be rushed.

We don't finish hems straight away and don't cut off excess fabric until the very last minute... and we never complete anything without agreement.

What do I need?

Please remember to bring your shoes to each and every fitting as forgetting to do so may result in extra fittings.

You may also want to bring underwear if your dress is formfitting to check visible lines.

What if I plan to loose weight?

We kindly ask that you stay the same once we have started working on your gown. If you are planning to loose weight let us know and we will work with you to find the best alterations timescale. Weight fluctuations during the process may result in additional charges if work needs to be repeated or additional areas need to be worked on.

When will my dress be ready?

We aim to have your final fitting roughly 2 weeks before your wedding. This then gives us enough time to steam and check your dress ready for collection 1 or 2 days before your wedding.
